"Anything can happen in life, so when it does, don't be surprised. Go wherever life decides to take you. And if possible, try to make the most of it."

This has not always been my philosophy. I would steer the things happening in my life into whichever direction I thought they should go. Or try and make everything around me perfect, including things that were inherently imperfect. But no matter how hard you work for something, life can throw a curve ball and you don't always get your way. Lucky for me, life has been pretty good, especially after I let go of the control and let life happen.
When I met my husband I was in college and for once, I decided not to steer my situation and let a story unfold on it's own. I remember while dating Jeff, for the first time my attitude was to just "see what happens..." without an agenda.
When I met my husband I was in college and for once, I decided not to steer my situation and let a story unfold on it's own. I remember while dating Jeff, for the first time my attitude was to just "see what happens..." without an agenda.
This is important because deciding to see where things went with Jeff turned into a life I could never have come up with on my own. By following my heart I found the man of my dreams. By following him I moved to Hawaii with 2 suitcases and 8 flat rate boxes. By moving to Hawaii I found a career that I love and am inspired every day by the clients I work with. With the support of my clients I've created a business where I get to teach others how to live their best life with exercise being a huge part of it. And by teaching others about exercise, setting goals, and leading by example, I have gone from being one of the last participants to finish the community Peaman races when we first moved here, to being selected to race in the most prestigious triathlon in the world. I get to race the 2017 Ironman International Championship as a Big Island Resident drawing winner.
As I go through my training I will draw upon all of the experiences I have had, from Peaman races in 2007, to running my first marathon in Portland in 2010, to finishing BikeMS in 2013, and Honu 70.3 last year in 2016. And of course the best test of courage, endurance and strength, having my two beautiful boys and raising them to be happy healthy human beings. To teach you must first learn yourself, and I am looking forward to learning by doing so that I can spread the sport of triathlon to more families in our community who want to go big too.
Follow along with me and learn about my journey from Peaman to Ironmom as I train for the toughest triathlon out there. I may not race fast or fancy but I'm going to give it my all to represent the average Ironmoms and Irondads out there chasing down a dream.
Warmest Aloha,
